SoDak Con Announcements!
03/08/2014- Huge News and More Special Guests
We have more news for you! The first is, as we are sure that you have all noticed that SoDak Con has been moving all year to a more all geek convention.
Well, we are making it official. We are re-branding to SoDak Con, Anime and Geek Convention. We are happy to reveal our logo to promote this.
We are sure that some of you may fear that we will lose our anime base, and we can guarantee that we will be staying to our strong anime base but we are now making a bigger effort to always have SoDak Con has a safe haven for all geeks, not just anime. You may have noticed that our AMVs are now FMVs, this is one of the many ways we are expanding to all geekdoms. Other things you will notice, other then a name change, is that we will have more vendors, special guest and panels that are going to include other fandoms. We are going to continue to give all geeks a place that will be safe and welcome to enjoy and express your true fan.
The second is the amazing special guests that we have. Not only do we have the great Tom Rasch, Cris "Chubs" George, and Jeremy Inman, but we are welcoming Tyson Rinehart and our trifeca of Horror Writers to SoDak Con!
Tyson Rinehart is an amazing voice actor that can be heard in many animes including the new Space Dandy! To find out more about Tyson, please check him out in the Special Guest area.
And we are super excited to introduce our first foray into the horror writing fandom and we are breaking that door open with three established well loved South Dakota horror writers. C.W. LaSart, Adrian Ludens and Doug Murano are all excited to teach the ways of scaring your readers! To find out more about these amazing writers, please check them out in the Special Guest area.
And last but definitely not least! For the first time ever, SoDak Con is offering the attendees a chance to have breakfast with our special guests. It will be held at Seattle's Best at the Hotel Alex Johnson. We are charging for the tickets because it will pay for the breakfast and the space. This guarantees that you will be able to meet and talk with Tyson Rinehart, Cris "Chubs" George, and Jeremy Inman. Some of the other special guest will join, but these guys are guaranteed. We suggest to bring your items to be signed. The $25 ticket is separate from the convention's registration and does not include access to SoDak Con. Only 25 tickets will be sold. Tickets Sold Here.
03/02/2014-Huge Update! Are you Getting Ready for the Con?
It's been a while and we are making up for it! We have so much great amazing news! First!
We are happy to announce that we are welcoming back Cris George and Jeremy Inman! They are both super excited to come back to SoDak Con and ready to bring the party.
To find out more about all of our amazing Special Guests, please check them out in our Special Guest area.
Our Huge Charity Effort This Year!
One of SoDak Con's amazing attendees (Eileen Mullican) approached us to an amazing thing. The effort is called Can Town, which is inspired by the Homestuck fandom. It is going to be amazing and we are involving all fandoms! This is how it works. Through out the weekend you can donate to Can Town, which will have it's own page here on the website. Each Fandom has a section that is for donations. Through out the weekend there will be rounds for attendees to nominate a Mayor of Can Town, and on Sunday the Mayor and whoever that want to help will take the donated items and create/build a town/castle out of them. Here are the fandoms and their charities that will be donating to. All info on what those charities need will be listed on Can Town's page. Every person that donates four or more items will receive $10 off of 2015's preregistration!
Can Town- Donate canned and non-perishable food for the local Feed South Dakota branch.
The Doctor's Library- Doctor Who Fandom's book donations are for charities that bring books those who don't get a chance at books.
Rarity's Generosity- Inspired by My Little Pony's Rarity this charity is for Project Warmth. Cosplayers bring your fabric scraps and pieces and donate them so they can be made into quilts for families that have lost homes, have suffered a loss or have a family member with cancer.
The Red Butterfly's Refuge- This is inspired by the anime Fruits Basket. Donate things for W.A.V.I to help families and spouses that have escaped abusive homes.
The Stars in our Future- This is the combination of Star Wars and Star Trek, to bring toys to kids that live in poverty.
More Info in the Charity Page.
