Calling All Cosplayers!

SoDak Con is making a video for Opening Ceremonies and we need you! May 11th, most of the day. More details when and where later. 

We need as many catgirls and catboys that we can get. They can be generic or an actual cosplay. We just need as many catgirls and catboys as possible. There cannot be enough catgirls and catboys! Anyone can be part of this even if all you are wearing is cat ears (Fully Clothed Of Course).

Announcement: 04/01/2013

Name Our Mascots!


Here is the big news for tonight! You know our awesome mascots, the Jackalope Girl and Boy? Both of them have had many looks in their lives and yet they have no names! What does this mean to you?

Well, we are going to hold a contest for you guys, the attendees and fans of SoDak Con to name our mascots! We will be opening up a form for you to submit a name for the boy and girl Jackalope. We will cut the date off on June 7th,2013. The semi-finalist will be announced the week before the convention and at the convention all of you will vote for the best names for our mascots! The two people that submitted the names that won will be given a free Pre-Registration to SoDak Con 2014. Look to the website and start submitting names for our mascots!

What is this news I speak of? Let me tell you! First we have confirmed that United Blood Services will be returning as one of our charities this year! It will still be in memory of Lady Chris and when sign ups are uploaded I will let all you all know about it. Anyone that attempts to donate, meaning you have to get a sticker from them at the con, you will get $10 next year's Prereg!

You want more news? Well, instead of just one Rave we are having two, one Friday and one Saturday! If that's not enough to get you pumped for SoDak, let me tell you that there are four amazing DJs that come from local to across midwest! We will offically announce all four soon!

You remember those awesome special guests that we have coming? Well, three of them have agreed to be cosplay judges for the cosplay competition! Rob "Vash" Lewis, Teca and LilacWare from Wild Garden Cosplay are all going to be those judges. Everyone, now is the time to pull out all of the stops for your cosplays and cosplay skits!

Don't forget that the AMV's are now open and that we have more news coming!

Our last Special Guests to be announced! With great joy I am happy to announce Wild Garden Cosplay coming as special guests! Wild Garden Cosplay comes from the Denver Area and are the current Mountain Region representatives for Wolrd Cosplay summit! 

Also! We are happy to be welcoming Matthew Frederickson from Games by Swami. Matt is an amazing guy that has made his own Table Top Game, Child Beauty Pageant Tycoon.

Are you local to the convention?  Would you like to know more about how the convention runs?  Are you reliable and dependable looking to  broaden your horizons a bit and help out your local convention?  

SoDak is taking on more staff members and we would love to have you!  If you are interested and local to the Rapid City area so you can make staff meetings accordingly please e-mail us at webmaster@sdcon.org!  We will be having a Staff Meeting in January!

If you aren't local but would like to help out the staff during the convention please do remember you are always welcome to volunteer at the door! Just let staff know at the convention that you would like to take up a volunteer position and we will happily accept your help!

• Special Guests!

SoDak Con is happy and proud to announce the return of Wendy Powell to SoDak Con for our fifth year!

Joining her and Samantha Rei Crossland are Cynthia Cranz,Tom Rasch, and Rob "Vash" Lewis!  Please take a look at our Special Guest's page to read up on the wonderful and amazing talent you'll be able to see this up coming year!

We are also happy to announce that Artist Alley and Dealers Room application has been opened!  You can find all the information from the drop down under Programming above on how to apply for a spot for 2013!

We have also released templates for the rules for the various competitions under Programming.  These are still subject to change, however.   All times and dates that are still in the air will be finalized closer to the actual convention!

• Panel Applications!
  

Panel applications will open January 1st 2013 through May 1st 2013.   We will provide more details about how applications are being handled upon opening the submissions for them!  Stay tuned!

We have an announcement for SoDak Con 2013! We are having Samantha Rei Crossland, from Blasphemina's Closet coming as a Special Guest! Check out her things and like her on facebook! 

Samantha is from Minneapolis, MN and has been featured in many things including the American Gothic Lolita Bible and Minneapolis Fashion Week. We are very excited for her to come and we can't wait to see her summer line on the runway at SoDak Con 2013!
